Give to Girl Scouts: Help her tell her story
Your generosity builds girls of courage, confidence, and character - girls who are Girl Scouts make our world a better place.
One in three Girl Scouts in our Oregon and SW Washington council depends on financial assistance.
Your donation can change the life of a girl in your community.
All contributions are tax deductible under section 501(c) (3) of the IRS code. We respect our donors' privacy. Your information will be used solely by Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington.
Want to make sure your donation is counted in 2014? Then donate now! Contributions are deductible in the year made. If you put a check dated December 31 in the mail by that day it must be postmarked December 31, 2014 or earlier. Or drop it off at one of our offices and hand it to an employee. So are donations charged by year's end to your credit card, even if you don't pay the card's bill until the 2015. Make your gift today using our secure online giving form.
If you have any questions, please contact Mary Lee Alder at (503) 977-6807 or email@example.com.

Do you have an individual retirement account (IRA)? Have you heard about the Senate approving the IRA Rollover tax break and have questions about it?
Here’s the basic information.
If you have an IRA and have not yet taken your required minimum distribution, you may choose to transfer that to a qualified public charity like Girl Scouts of Oregon and SW Washington without it being added to your adjusted gross income. By reducing your taxable income, this may reduce your tax implications.
Normally, you would take your distribution and then give it to a charity. You would claim it as income on your tax return and then itemize it with your other deductions. Adding it as income, however, might cause you to bump up into a higher tax bracket.
With the rollover, your distribution is not income OR a deduction.
Here are the requirements.
- You must be at least 70 1/2 years old. (The IRS counts your age at your closest birthday.)
- The limit is $100,000.
- The funds must be transferred before the end of day December 31, 2014.
- The funds must transfer directly from the custodian of your IRA (brokerage house, etc.) to the charity. You can’t take the distribution and THEN send it on.
