Become a volunteer and make a difference in the lives of girls! Girl Scouts will match your skills, talents, interests and goals to volunteer opportunities. All volunteers must pay annual membership dues of $12. Some positions require training and background checks.

If you are ready to make a difference in a girl's life:

    1. Complete the Application for a Volunteer Position (Printable Version OR  Online Version). For the printable version, print and mail it to:

    2. Register online or complete an Adult Registration Form and return it to your nearest service center with your $12 annual membership dues.
    3. Complete a background check online. Results are handled confidentially and you will be notified when your background check review is complete.

Once you have completed the steps above, you will be contacted about next steps in your volunteer experience. If you need assistance with the steps above, contact your nearest service center.

Trefoil Short-term Opportunities

Want to volunteer but don't have much time? These volunteer opportunities require a commitment of one day to three months. If a position is listed as "Day" it must be completed during regular business hours.

Creating Her Own Individual Challenges and Experiences (C.H.O.I.C.E.)

C.H.O.I.C.E. is focused on middle and high school aged girls who may not be involved in other organizations and may be having difficulty reaching their full potential. Leaders are recruited to provide positive female role models who can relate readily to the issues and concerns of teenage girls. Each group has two leaders that have been trained to be sensitive to special needs and/or relevant subjects which might need to be discussed. Learn marketable skills and acquire experience that can be valuable in getting jobs and promotions. Linn County Day, after school hours; 2-4 hours a week for four weeks or more
Day Camp Volunteer at one of our 25 summer day camps. Last year, volunteers gave 4,300 girls memories that will last a lifetime! No matter what your skills or interests - outdoors, crafts, planning guru - we've got something for you. Each camp only lasts a week so this is a great way to give back. Throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington Day; varies by position; as little as one week and as much as a couple months if you are interested in a leadership role
Discovery Programs These programs may be one time sessions or multiple consecutive sessions, focusing on various topics from healthy living to science to literacy. You'll work with girls to offer them Girl Scout programs. Portland

Historical Collections Team Volunteer curators are needed to sort, research, record and manage minor restoration work for our growing collection of historical uniforms and ephemera. Skills ranging from sewing to computer data entry are needed to prepare this amazing resource for use. Training in archival storage and management will be provided. Portland Flexible project and training hours based on your availability. 3-5 hours per month based on need and materials. Year-round program with possible events to attend.
Program Planning Committee Need volunteers to participate in planning and facilitating programs for girls of all Girl Scout program levels. Previous completion of Event Director Training recommended but not required. Bend, Eugene/Springfield

Develop one project (from a list of current projects) to improve travel opportunities and programming for girls. You'll   research, organize data for dissemination and develop the project according to staff direction and volunteer feedback.

Retail Sales Work with staff to maintain the sales floor and stockroom. Assist customers with purchases. Portland, Salem, Eugene, Medford and Bend Day; flexible
Science, Tech, Engineering, Math (STEM) Only 20% of engineering program students are female and only half of that number are currently employed as engineers! Help Girl Scouts facilitate a variety of programs aimed at bridging this gender gap and offering girls real world experience. We are always looking for experienced women working in the fields of engineering, computer and physical sciences. Hard science or teaching background is not necessary. You must only have a desire to show girls what it is you do and share your passion for your work. We will help you develop the rest. Portland Flexible planning/training hours until projects are developed for implementation. 2-3 hours once a month to deliver the program. Some programs may only take place during summer months.

Many of the positions below are part of a service unit, which is a geographical area within our council that is supported by a group of volunteers known as the service team. Service team positions can be completed during the day or evening and require some evening meetings. Volunteer Conflict Resolution Panel Member

See the position description

 Serve on a volunteer panel of three to five members that, in the event of a dispute or conflict involving volunteer members, reviews and makes a recommendation to the Vice President of Membership Services or her/his designee for final action. Help ensure girls have an opportunity to participate in the Girl Scout Leadership Experience in a positive and productive environment. AllTraining with periodic updates, monthly meetings and at least one panel service per year as requested
