Service Unit 29 provides Girl Scout program to interested girls in the cities and communities of Alpine, Alsea, Blodgett, Corvallis, Kings Valley, Monroe, and Philomath in Benton County Oregon.

Benton Day Camp 2013
Benton Day Camp is coming your way this summer on July 22-26! Woohoo! This year the theme is Where the Wild Things Are, where we will explore Oregon wildlife, fisheries and other critters that we share this beautiful space with.
Check out our website at www.bentondaycamp.org and you'll see a couple of new & exciting changes, including online registration, PAIT (Program Aide in Training) program, and expanded PA program.
Registration opens April 5 and closes June 15 or when camp is full.
Remember... we need many VOLUNTEERS to make Day Camp happen! We need your help. If you would like to lend a hand, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Laura Rathja, at rathjal@hotmail.com.

Day camp is planned and carried out by volunteers in the community. Without these volunteers day camp is not possible. Thank you to all our VOLUNTEERS! YOU can be a Girl Scout.

All Girls, between ages 5 years and 17 years, can be a Girl Scout. Meet friends and have fun by joining a troop, participating in a short term program, attending a Girl Scout sponsored event, traveling with a travel group, or attending Girl Scout camp.
Adults, it is not too late to start your journey in Girl Scouts! You can work with a troop as a leader or adult helper, share your interest or talents with groups of girls, become involved in helping plan a Girl Scout event, work behind the scenes as part of an adult team, or help with day camp.

Volunteer Meeting
Discover, Connect, Take Action as an adult Girl Scout volunteer!
All Girl Scout adults (or those interested in becoming a volunteer) are invited to learn about Girl Scouting, meet with group and troop leaders, and help plan the Service Unit program.
This meeting replaces the "Leader Meetings" of the past so all adult Girl Scout volunteers have the opportunity to become more involved in Girl Scouts even though they can not commit to being a troop or group leader.
Come share the opportunity to connect with other volunteers. Each troop or group should have one or more representatives at this meeting. These meetings are held from 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, 4515 SW West Hills Rd.
2012 - 2013 meeting dates:
- May 13: The workshop theme is recognitions. We will be recognizing those adults that received GSOSW recognitions during the April Annual meeting.
- June 3: Family celebration

Benton Service Unit Program Plan
Benton SU Tree Project:
As a service unit, troops have decided to donate some of their cookie troop money to support the Corvallis Community Garden Orchard at Avery Park. At the site there is room for 12 to 24 trees to be planted at a estimated cost of $35 - $50 per tree. Native fruit trees will be selected for the area (plum, apple and pear). If arrangements can be arranged, planting of the trees will occur in May 2013. Girls will be needed to help plant these trees. Troops will be notified when a date has been finalized. This is a great way to show the Corvallis community what Girl Scouts do with some of the money they earn selling Girl Scout cookies.
