At completion of this course, you will be certified for two years in Adult and Child First Aid, CPR, and AED through Red Cross. One adult with this certification is required to be present for most Girl Scout events and activities. This training is blended, with both online and in-person instruction. The in-person portion will be held at the Portland Service Center.
After the registration deadline (approximately one week prior to the in-person skills test date), you will receive an email with detailed information on completing the online portion of this class.
If you do not receive the email for the online portion at least five days prior to the training, contact answers@girlscoutsosw.org . Please check your junk folder, as it will often get flagged as spam.
All online course work must be completed before the in-person component (it will take 2-4 hours to complete the online portion). Upon completion of the online segment, you will receive a Red Cross certificate via email detailing completion of the online portion. Please save this certificate and present it to your instructor when you check into the in-person segment. Without this certificate you will be unable to participate in the in-person skills test.
This is a scenario-based class, and there will be a lot of hands-on practice of skills. Participants need to be physically able to kneel for up to five minutes. Comfortable and non-restrictive clothing is recommended.
If the number of registrants does not meet the required minimum by the cancellation deadline, the training will be cancelled and participants will be notified.
Note: Beginning January 1, 2022, the price for GSOSW Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Trainings increased from $50 to $65 due to an increase in Red Cross fees and materials.
GSOSW volunteer trainings are adult, member-only and council-only, events. Please make other arrangements for your children.
