Support and Inspire Girl Scouts as They Earn Their Gold Award
Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors can earn the Girl Scout Gold Award by developing and carrying our lasting solutions to issues in their communities and beyond!
The Gold Award is the final of the Girl Scout Highest Awards that a girl can earn. They use everything they’ve learned as a Girl Scout to help fix a problem in their community or make a lasting change in their world. Plus, they’re amazing candidates for colleges, scholarships, competitive internship programs, and exciting careers. Like the Silver Award, Girl Scouts earning a Gold Award will recruit volunteers and delegate work to them. Their projects have to consist of at least 80 hours of leadership, be sustainable, and continue beyond the Girl Scout’s involvement. Unlike the Silver and Bronze Awards, each Girl Scout needs to have her own Gold Award project.
Gold Award Prerequisites
Girl Scouts must either complete two Journeys (Senior or Ambassador level) or complete a Silver Award and one Journey (Senior or Ambassador level) before starting a Gold Award project. This helps them grow their leadership skills in preparation for this award.
Adult Support
Gold Award projects include two adult advisors: a troop advisor and a project advisor. Troop advisors are adults like troop leaders and Juliette mentors who help keep Girl Scouts on track and help navigate Girl Scout policies and procedures (Note: Parents cannot serve as advisors for their child). Project advisors are the subject matter experts, and are usually community members outside of Girl Scouts. Girl Scouts have gained more independence by this stage but still partner with adults to achieve their goals.

Girl Scouts who have earned Highest Awards may be honored at our annual GOLD celebrations!
Each year, our council holds a special ceremony and reception for Girl Scout Gold Award recipients. Girl Scouts who have earned their Silver or Bronze Award may also be honored at this event. These events are open to the community, and attending a GOLD celebration is a great way for all Girl Scouts to get inspired by the leadership and service of their fellow Girl Scouts.
