This scholarship has been established to recognize an outstanding Gold Award Girl Scout and allow her to continue her education. Scholarship monies awarded may be used for college, university, technical, vocational, or trade schools and are not limited to schools in Oregon.
Congratulations to our Arlene Johns scholarship recipients!
About Arlene Johns
Arlene Johns was a long-time member of the Girl Scouts of Western Rivers council, one of the legacy councils that form part of the Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington. Arlene served as a troop leader, and her troop members were among the first to become Gold Award Girl Scouts in the Western Rivers council. As an active board member, she represented the interests of the girls. Arlene was a Silver and Gold Operating Team member and mentored many young women, encouraging them always to seek the best in themselves. It is in her memory and honor that this scholarship is given. The funding for this scholarship came from the Johns Family, Mrs. Johns’ employer, Bud Johnson of Acme Collision, the Springfield business community, and many, many friends in Girl Scouts.
If you would like to honor Arlene’s passion for mentorship and girl excellence by making a gift, please add Arlene Johns Scholarship to the “Leave a comment” line.
